The CEO will donate 10% of all proceeds from the sale of this item to the Georgia chapter of All of Us or None, a grassroots organization whose mission is to advocate for currently and formerly incarcerated people and their families, who is currently campaigning to amend Georgia law that currently legalizes slavery for people convicted of a crime. This practice is exploitive and profit driven but harms the citizens most impacted and contributes to unemployment within the community.

Most do not know it, but the Federal Constitution's 13th Amendment did NOT end slavery! It's exception only opened a door for oppressive states to use it as a loophole to find another way to keep slavery alive and profitable....through criminal convictions and mass incarceration thereby using prison labor to replace plantation slavery. 

The 13th Amendment states that “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” Georgia's state Constitution (Art. I, Sect. 1, Paragraph XXII) states: “Involuntary servitude. There shall be no involuntary servitude within the State of Georgia except as a punishment for crime after legal conviction thereof or for contempt of court.”

Our society as a whole once depended upon forced labor from African people as property. Today, their descendants (Black people) are still being exploited for their labor as they are disproportionately impacted by our criminal legal system subjecting them to “involuntary servitude” once incarcerated. Slavery under any circumstance should be prohibited. In Georgia, our Constitution should reflect a non-negotiable legal and moral baseline against “involuntary servitude” and any other vestiges of slavery.
