The CEO of Beautiful Pride will match 10% each of all donations and donate 5% to the Georgia Chapter of All of Us or None (to support their current #endslaveryinGA campaign to change Georgia's constitutional law that legalizes slavery of Georgians convicted of a crime) & the federal #endtheexception campaign that supports the passing of the federal bill sponsored by Senators Jeff Merkley (OR) and Cory Booker (NJ) and Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) that will amend the 13th amendment to remove the exception that currently legalizes slavery in the U.S.

Most do not know it, but the Federal Constitution's 13th Amendment did NOT end slavery! It's exception only opened a door for oppressive states to use it as a loophole to find another way to keep slavery alive and profitable....through criminal convictions and mass incarceration thereby using prison labor to replace plantation slavery.

The 13th Amendment states that “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” 

Our society as a whole once depended upon forced labor from African people as property. Today, their descendants (Black people) are still being exploited for their labor as they are disproportionately impacted by our criminal legal system, overpoliced and given harsher sentences subjecting them to “involuntary servitude” once incarcerated. Slavery under any circumstance should be prohibited. In Georgia, our Constitution should reflect a non-negotiable legal and moral baseline against “involuntary servitude” and any other vestiges of slavery.
